The Big Global Warming Uncertainty
The constant among not only the oil industry but the Global Warming adversaries is what they keep calling, an uncertainty. At first, I thought that they were uncertain with the conclusions of 90%-95% of the scientists that have said, yes, Global Warming is man-made problem, caused by greenhouse gas emissions, but they did not coincide with the oil industries commercials and documents. After a lot of research, I was amazed at what the industry was calling an uncertainty.
Chevron’s CEO, Dave O'Reilly verbalized it best, when he stated that yes “it is getting warmer but there is uncertainty on how much warmer is it going to get and what are the impacts”.
The oil industries, so-called uncertainty, stems, not from the fact that Global Warming is a man-made problem, that is being caused by greenhouse gas emissions, but from the fact that scientists are not in 100% agreement on how fast the temperature will continue to rise, how warm it is going to get and how big of an impact it is going to be on the environment and society.
They agree that there is a problem, but because man can not predict with 100% certainty, how fast and bad it is going to get and the potential impacts, they just want to wait it out or do token things, to give the appearance of cooperation. In their minds, waiting until the last moment to aggressively start addressing an issue and hope, you are not too late, may work for them, but that is an antiquated mind set held by few.
You can take a wait and see approach, hope and dream everything will be ok, or make a conscious decision and put your future in your own hands.
We all have to work together and start to aggressively address Global Warming and Energy Independence, NOW.
Are you ready to Lead By Example?
